Sussex Police appeal after cyclist injured in A259 Emsworth crash

The 75-year-old man from Southbourne was taken by air ambulance after the crash on the A259 yesterday afternoon and remains in a serious condition.

Two other men, 51 and 62, and a 73-year-old woman were also taken to hospital. One remains in hospital while two have been discharged.

Following the crash on Main Road, Emsworth, a Sussex Police spokesman said: “Emergency services attended Main Road on Thursday, July 13, after reports of a collision between a white Mercedes Sprinter van, a silver Ford B Max, a cyclist, and a pedestrian at 3.10pm.

“A 75-year-old man from Southbourne was airlifted to hospital with life-changing injuries. He remains in a serious condition.

“A 62-year-old man from Southbourne was also taken to hospital with serious injuries where he remains in a stable condition.

“A 73-year-old woman from Chichester and 51-year-old man from Waterlooville were taken to hospital with minor injuries and have since been discharged.

“The road is now open following an initial investigation.”

Police also thanked members of the public who helped administer first aid the scene and aided those involved in the crash.
